About Winsome Gunning

Australian artist Winsome Gunning uses color and light to convey mood and feeling. Her Beach series of paintings reflect her love for the beach. The paths, dunes and trees in these works were all part of her daily life, and as such reflect the changing moods and feelings experienced living close to the ocean. The Flower Series are an ongoing series of works in which she uses flowers to express a variety of moods. 

Winsome came to Australia in the seventies, after graduating with a major in painting from Canterbury University, New Zealand, and taught art to migrant children in inner city schools. She left teaching in 1991 to focus on her professional art career.
