About Maria Kiriakov

Artist Maria Kiriakov creates stylized and colorful works, influenced by different cultures and faiths, and by ancient folk tales of Europe and Middle East.

Bulgarian born, Maria studied mural art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia. She won a Grand Premium in the International Biennial of Mediterranean Artists in Alexandria, Egypt. She later lived and worked in Vienna and exhibited her work in Austria and France, including the UNESCO Center in Paris. Maria has also participated in prestigious Art and Graphic Biennials in Italy, Yugoslavia and Germany.

She currently resides in Canada, working in the field of animation, and continuing to paint and exhibit her art.
