BY THE SEA COLLECTION
I live by the sea on the southern shore of Cape Cod and experience daily its changes and passions throughout the 4 seasons. Its easy to be inspired by the various objects, colors, weather conditions and light changes that the sea offers daily.

The images shown in this collection reflect that inspiration which Ive tried to capture to show the playfulness and creative spirit living By The Sea offers the imagination.

Much of this work was created with a wide variety of applications in mind such as prints, tiles, aprons, greeting cards, gift bags for a wide variety of decorative uses kids of all ages in the home, office, restaurants and other spaces.

CHILDREN’S COLLECTION
For some reason, Im attracted to the broad area of art for children, probably because of the playfulness, color and freedom that indulges one. Having worked on K-12 reading programs and with four children of my own for inspiration may have helped.

The images in this collections reflect that inspiration and were created initially just for kids to decorate their rooms with prints, murals and wallpaper, and also for the kitchen and bath. I also discovered a myriad of other applications such as art deco and contemporary for tiles, gift bags, trays, t-shirts, aprons, greeting cards, plus decorative uses in schools, day care, stores and other spaces.

CREATURES COLLECTION
Its fun using birds and animals as a creative theme because of their varied and interesting shapes, color patterns and personalities from peaceful, humorous to scary.

The images shown were initially created to meet different needs such as for paintings or illustration, but ultimately tied together as a related series for prints, wall art and contemporary or art deco designs for the bath, kitchen and other spaces both residential and commercial.

Additional apps include tiles, aprons, greeting cards, gift bags for a wide variety of decorative uses and potentially expanded to include additional images in the series

SPORTS COLLECTION
Having been a high school and college athlete, plus a life long tennis player and skier, the attraction of sports to art came easy for me. My first big push came with the tennis boom that followed open tennis by developing graphics to decorate tennis and health clubs with murals or large framed images of players in action. This led into skiing and ultimately running and the other major pro and amateur sports.

Ive always experimented with graphics in the darkroom and especially after the birth of the Mac. These images reflect some of my work originally designed as samples for murals in gyms and health clubs, graphics for marketing materials and to illustrate book and magazine covers.

They have numerous contemporary applications such as t-shirts, posters, calendars, prints, wall art, flags, trays, sports clubs, aprons, cards, gifts bags and anywhere a sports theme is applicable and also be used as a style for developing custom designs.

SQUARES COLLECTION
These images were purposely created to fit a square format. Other images are available or can be created to meet this shape.

They were originally designed to fit a square framing support to decorate spaces with a series of images. They can easily be adapted to other applications for kids, teens and adults of all ages for aprons, wall art, tiles, aprons, greeting cards, gift bags or where colorful and interesting contemporary or art deco
images are needed.

ArtVisions™ New Dynamic Art Website Quickly Delivers Art.

Fine art licensing agency ArtVisions launches completely revamped web site. According to ArtVisions President, Neil Miller, the new design, “…makes it easy to view a lot of art very quickly”. Visitors can select a category (style/subject matter) from our Eclectic Mix of interesting art for viewing and quickly see thumbnail images for the category.

This is the sixth major web site overhaul since 1994, each taking into account visitor comments and incorporating improved usability features.

Miller notes that, concurrent with the update “we have also updated the mix of artists in our representation pool (we don’t keep artists in a ‘stable’)”. Additionally, ArtVisions is displaying several new images ready for licensing.

dpi is NOT THE SAME as ppi

Quite frequently, “dots per inch” (dpi) and “pixels per inch” (ppi) are [incorrectly] used interchangeably by people who do not understand the difference between viewing on a monitor (“ppi”) and producing a print on paper or some other substrate (“dpi”).

In essence, you can “touch” dots, but you can only “see” pixels (for example, when rendered electronically on a monitor).

PIXELS

LCD monitors display pictures in millions of pixels, arranged in rows and columns. A pixel on a monitor is a single point in a graphic image. The pixels are placed close together so that they appear connected.

One full pixel actually is a combination of one red, one green, and one blue sub-pixel (“RGB” = Red, Green Blue). Programs such as Photoshop describe images in terms of pixel dimensions.

DOTS

DPI (Dots per Inch) has nothing to do with your image file. DPI refers to how many drops of ink per square inch are used on paper to print an image. BUT, the sizes available for creating a HIGH QUALITY print are completely dependent on the size of the digital file that you create. Known as output resolution, optimum results for printing process require anywhere from 200 PPI to 300 PPI.

Print Quality and Pixel Dimensions

PPI does not affect the print size of an image; it affects the print QUALITY at a particular size. A 240~360 ppi scan = High quality 1200~2880+ dpi print. For example, a 300ppi scan @ 4″ would produce a high quality 4″ print – but the same high resolution file would produce a low quality 16″ print.

We need to assure that our licensee clients are able to create high quality products from our art. That is why we require professionally made high-resolution files at the dimensions of the original artwork.
